Our Latest Adventure, The Great Smoky Mountains

Hey there! Just wanted to let you know that our latest adventure has come to an end. Our journey was incredible and filled with unforgettable memories. We had a blast and can't wait for the next one! John and I spent seven nights in North Carolina and Tennessee exploring breathtaking scenery. We started our trip in Cherokee, NC, and ended in Sevierville, TN, just north of Pigeon Forge. As a special treat to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, we rented a beautiful, scenic mountain view cabin in Sevierville. We were so captivated by the scenery that it was difficult to leave.

At the beginning of the trip, we rode the GSMR (Great Smoky Mountains Railroad) from Bryson City, NC, to the Nantahala Gorge. It was a fantastic experience. We drove part of the Blue Ridge Parkway from Cherokee, NC, to the highest elevation on the parkway, the Richland Balsam Overlook, at 6053 ft. While in Gatlinburg, we rode the SkyLift and walked across the SkyBridge. It is a suspension bridge that spans 680 feet and stands 140 feet high. Additionally, we drove the Cades Cove Loop, which is about 33 miles from downtown Gatlinburg; it is a picturesque 11-mile, one-way drive through Smoky Mountains National Park. We saw pioneer log cabins, old grist mills and historic churches along with scenic mountain views.

As usual, I took tons of photos and will post some after sorting through them. I hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed our trip. I visited Gatlinburg years ago and was amazed by the breathtaking scenery and had forgotten how much there is to see and do. Until next time!
