We recently returned from a 14-day cruise that included stops in Key West, FL; Amber Cove, Dominican Republic; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and St. Thomas, USVI.
Here's what you can expect from the destinations:
Key West is an island brimming with fantastic activities. The beaches are amazing, and the island is always full of life. You should check out the Ernest Hemingway Museum and the Southernmost Point in the United States. If history interests you, you will love the rich culture of this island.
A stop at the port of Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic can be a special part of any cruise itinerary. There is a large swimming pool to use while taking in the many food and beverage choices. You can shelter yourself from the sun by renting a cabana, which offers privacy. For the adventurous, you can always reserve excursions through the cruise line. One of the most appealing things about Amber Cove is the vast array of aquatic activities. You may rent a pedal boat, kayak, stand-up paddleboard, or a solar-powered catamaran. Amber Cove also has amenities for thrill-seekers like zip lines and a large water slide.
I can’t recommend visiting San Juan, Puerto Rico, enough. San Juan is the historic capital of Puerto Rico, and the beautiful beaches are close by. One of my favorite parts of San Juan, Puerto Rico, is its history. The historical part of the city is full of quaint streets, buildings, and places and gives the feel of walking back in time. Another one of my favorites is Castillo San Felipe del Morro. It is breathtaking and not to be missed, in my opinion.
In the U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Thomas is a lush tropical island with a historic district known as Charlotte Amalie, with many shops and great restaurants. Take a stroll along the pristine sands of Magens Bay. When you are there, consider snorkeling and enjoy the scenery on this gorgeous island.
