Hiroshima, Japan
(April 14, 2025)
Our second stop in Japan was Hiroshima where we went to see what is now known as the Atomic Bomb Dome. The building formerly served to promote the Hiroshima industries. We also visited the dedication site to the bombing victims during World War II, the Peace Memorial and the Peace Museum.
On a lighter note, less than an hour away is Miyajima Island, a very pretty little island where wild deer can be found roaming the island with the visitors, as they are so very accustomed to the many tourists that visit. You cannot feed the deer, however, they may eat plastic or paper so just be aware. Miyajima is well known for the shrine known as Itsukushima, and the huge Torri Gate that appears to float on the water at high tide.
Also, I could not resist the urge to go into the iconic American coffee shop, now found globally, known as Starbucks. I enjoyed my favorite drink, a hot white mocha and purchased a travel mug with cherry blossoms. Photos soon, I promise !
