Hiroshima, Japan

(April 14, 2025)

Our second stop in Japan was Hiroshima, where we saw what is now known as the Atomic Bomb Dome. The building formerly served to promote the Hiroshima industries. We also visited the dedication site to the bombing victims during World War II, the Peace Memorial, and the Peace Museum.

On a lighter note, Miyajima Island is less than an hour away, and wild deer often roam the island alongside visitors because they are so accustomed to the large number of tourists. You can't feed the deer; however, they might eat plastic or paper, so be cautious. Miyajima is famous for the Itsukushima Shrine and the massive Torii Gate, which appears to float on the water at high tide.

I also couldn't resist visiting the iconic American coffee shop known as Starbucks, which is now found all over the world. I drank my favorite beverage, a hot white mocha, and purchased a travel mug with cherry blossoms. I will post photos soon, I promise!
